Students in the School of Drama Dramaturgy Option are encouraged to access a wide array of electives from across the university.

Core courses in the humanities are required for all students. Students must also take six dedicated dramaturgy courses, including research and writing. These classes prepare students to work on productions as dramaturgs in their junior and senior years.

In addition to core requirements, proficiency in at least one foreign language, and a variety of English and History courses are required. Specialty coursework may include Foundations of Drama, History of Drama, History of Architecture and Décor, Acting I, Directing II, or Introduction to Playwriting, Dramaturgy Production, and Critical Histories of the Arts.

Students are required to complete an internship through one of the many partner theatres and schools with which the School of Drama is connected. Students are also encouraged to pursue a semester abroad.
