The School of Drama Graduate Production Technology and Management Option (PTM) offers an intensive curriculum focused on the dynamic and evolving fields of theater technology and organizational management.
The program offers formal tracks in technical direction, and production and stage management that result in a Masters of Arts management degree. Students enter the three-year program with significant experience in their chosen area, and then complete a rigorous series of classes and productions designed to strengthen and expand each student’s existing skills and knowledge.
The curriculum provides opportunities to explore current practice as well as innovative creative technologies. Class discussions and collaborative interactions promote new ways of problem solving. Graduate students put theory into practice by managing and leading multiple productions.
In this way, students have opportunities to demonstrate leadership in a wide variety of creative activities. At the end of the MFA program, an extensive and detailed thesis project in a student’s area of interest provides a capstone for the degree.
