2021 Streaming FAQs

The School of Drama enters into several performance rights agreements for plays each season. Rightsholders gave special consideration to permit online streaming of a playwright’s work, provided that the play is viewable on a password-protected, secure platform and accessible only to registered patrons or paid ticket buyers. To administer those security requirements, the School of Drama requires registration to issue a unique, one-time use access code to registered patrons. Shows that require registration are Men On Boats, Everybody, HAIR, and A Day. All other shows are not subject to rights agreements or password-protected access requirements.

On the Monday before the first performance, you will receive an email from the School of Drama containing a link and unique access code. Access codes can only be used on the date and time of the streamed performance you registered to view. Please do not share your code. Doing so will end your session and admit the individual who just used your code.

Email reminders will be sent on both the week before and the week of streamed performances.  Reminders will contain the performance schedule, link, and instructions to view the stream online.

Shows will only be available for viewing on the date and time indicated for each show on the School of Drama website.  The one exception is for Day Clothes, which will be available for on demand streaming starting May 1.  More information on how to view Day Clothes will be available at a later date.

Streaming devices such as Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, or Chromecast may permit you to mirror your computer display or smartphone (iPhone, Pixel, Galaxy, etc.) onto your TV. Please check with the manufacturer of your streaming device and/or smartphone to determine if this is possible.

Some SmartTVs are also equipped with a web browser that will allow you to navigate to the performance link to view the show.  Please check with your TV manufacturer to determine if this is possible.

From your smartphone email app, you can tap on the link from your performance email and it should open your mobile browser app.  If applicable, enter your access code for registration required shows.  Streamed performances will be hosted on solutions that will permit full screen viewing on smartphones by tapping on the lower corner of the video player. However, for the best viewing we suggest watching on your computer or tablet.

ShowTix4U.com is a web ticketing and streaming service for theater companies that is endorsed by many rightsholders of theatrical works.  School of Drama will be using ShowTix4U to stream Men On Boats, Everybody, A Day and Hair.  If you registered to any of those shows, you will receive an email containing a link to view the shows on ShowTix4U along with a unique access code.  Simply click the link and enter your access code on the date and time of the performance you registered to view.
