Bio:

Dean Thordarson is a technical manager and production electrician graduating from Carnegie Mellon University with his BFA in Production Technology. Originally from Los Angeles, California, he found an appreciation for technical theatre at a young age, initially as a hobby, but quickly growing into a passion for all the technical elements that go into entertainment production.

While at Carnegie Mellon, he has served several roles across different departments, including master electrician, lighting programmer, technical designer, job lead, and carpenter. He has a strong interest in scenery and electrics in both theatre and film/television production, and is always eager to learn more about his craft. Choosing the Production Technology track has allowed him to gain an immense amount of knowledge and experience in these areas, amassing him a versatile skillset that can be applied both within and outside the world of entertainment production.

Outside of school, Dean has recently worked as a technical designer and a carpenter at The Scenic Route, a commercial scene shop in Los Angeles, working on projects for the LA Opera, Samsung, Entertainment Studios, Parallel Systems, and more.

Dean is a strong collaborator, working well in teams as both a leader or a participant, though also just as well as a solo worker. He is a determined individual who takes pride in the work he produces. He has an eye for precision and completion, not sacrificing quality for speed, while still finishing tasks in a timely manner. Following graduation, he hopes to find a position where he can utilize all of the skills he has acquired in his academic and professional career.
