Jonathan Champion

Actor/Singer
Class of 2022
(he/him)

Bio:

Jonathan Champion was born and raised in Wood Green, England (a district of North London), into a family of actors. At the age of seven, he moved to Newton, Massachusetts, eventually attending Newton North High School where he enjoyed playing the roles of Macbeth in Macbeth, John Wilkes Booth in Assassins, and Mark Antony in Julius Caesar. He spent many of his summers at Weston Drama Workshop, sometimes directing, sometimes leading and setting an example for his younger colleagues, but most often performing. He has continued to explore his love of the imagined and the theatrical during his studies at Carnegie Mellon’s School of Drama.

He helped create a number of projects with his close friends under the title of “Sevenfold Studios”, including a political satire, an absurdist film, and one heart-filled interpretation of “Treasure Island”, where he portrayed a long time favorite character of his, the pirate Long John Silver. One could easily find him pouring into research for any of his interests, be it the inhabitants and adventures of the Marvel and DC universes, playing his favorite video games, writing his own stories, or creating and building worlds and characters to be used in a campaign of Dungeons and Dragons. Jonathan has always found strength, comfort, and immense joy in the power of his imagination, and it hasn’t seemed to let him down since.
