Kevin Tappan Jr.

Actor/Singer/Dancer
Class of 2023
(he/him)

Bio:

From the moment Kevin Tappan Jr. was born, music has guided his life’s journey. Born and raised in New York City, while he grew up singing in church, he really caught the performance bug in elementary school while being a part of the PS22 Chorus. He was able to learn at an early age how powerful art can be to positively impact someone’s life. Continuing on to go to a public magnet school for the arts in middle school he performed in his very first musical and there was no going back. After studying as a Drama major at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, he was then blessed with the fulfillment of a dream and thousands of prayers by attending Carnegie Mellon University for Musical Theatre.

Kevin strives to bring authenticity to characters by harnessing their passion and meeting them at their current states of ambition. Over the years, he has been able to play roles that have allowed him to bring his soul to the forefront like Rosalind in “As You Like It,” Oshoosi Size in “The Brothers Size” or Justin in “Blood at the Root.”

He can almost always be found watching some of his favorite YouTube videos like Yebba’s “My Mind” performance from 2016 at Sofar NYC or Avery Wilson singing “Can We Talk” at Taco Tuesday’s in 2019 (If you haven’t watched either, please do. It’ll change your life). His favorite meal to cook is Pernil with Arroz Amarillo and his favorite bread to make is focaccia.
