My Bio:

NaTasha is a director, playwright and North Carolina native. Much of her inspiration comes from her southern roots and observing social structures. She creates work that offers opportunity for  productive discourse. As a result, underrepresented voices are amplified and education/awareness is increased. A champion of collaboration, NaTasha has been creating theatrical work since 2007 and holds a BA in Drama from UNC-Greensboro. She’s worked with organizations such as The North Carolina Black Repertory Company, Playmakers Repertory Company, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Theatre For a New Audience, Bull City Black Theatre Festival and DNAWORKS. She is a member of Black Theatre Network, Alternate Roots and an SDC Associate Member.  In addition she self produces her own work, most recently the EDU Project and Lavender Terrace. The EDU Project, a site specific journey through southern black educational institutions, has had two initial showings (Rosenwald & Latta) and received support from  CMU School of Computer Science and School of Drama CS+X Grant as well as Alternate Roots Project Development fund. Lavender Terrace, a speculative response to Marita Bonner’s Purple Flower has received the following support during the 2020/2021 Covid Pandemic. The STUDIO for Creative Inuiry’s Residency -In- Your – Room Fellowship,  CMU College of Fine Arts Interdisciplinary Award and Kelly-Strayhorn Theatre’s Freshworks Residency.  Currently she is a John Wells Fellow, pursuing a MFA in Directing at Carnegie Mellon University. Her graduate research includes study of the Black Theatre cannon identifying intersections of Afro-Surrealism and Afro-Futurism.
