Dramaturg
Class of 2022
(he/him)

Bio:

Nick is a playwright, composer, director, dramaturg, and actor with a keen interest in musical theater – namely, in expanding the medium to be as diverse and all-encompassing as music itself. Most recently, he wrote a new English translation of Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera that was performed as part of the School of Music’s mainstage season. During his time at Carnegie Mellon, he has written, composed, and produced two original musicals for CMU’s Playground festival, with plans to further develop both beyond graduation. He has served as production dramaturg on five School of Drama productions and assisted in the development of several new plays, including Carol Mullen’s For the People, which went on to become a finalist at the 2021 Eugene O’Neill awards.

In early 2022, Nick is partnering with Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale to direct and produce a reimagining of Jason Robert Brown’s Parade, and is filming episodes of an original mockumentary called Trust the Process in May. He has always believed in the theatre as a transformative space of radical communion, and is perpetually seeking new collaborators who believe in forging timely, accessible, and daring artistic experiences for a new generation of creators, consumers, and communities.
