Class of 2021
(She/Her)

My Bio:

Rachel Kolb is a graduating Sound Designer from San Diego, California. Her time at Carnegie Mellon was greatly impacted by COVID-19 which has caused most of her theatrical work here to be virtual. This pushed her to question what theater is and collaborate with others to make work that pushes what theater is expected to be. In affiliate with Carnegie Mellon, before COVID-19 she mixed Into The Woods. Then was the Sound Designer on a virtual production of Blacktop Sky and a radio play creation of Assassins. Collaboration is the foundation of Rachel’s artistic practice. CMU gave her the opportunity to be surrounded by many amazing artist and peers. Outside of the classroom she worked with her peers to create many independent projects. Inspired to create artistic community during the pandemic, she formed a theater company with fellow School of Drama students called Group 404. They have produced three virtual theater productions, working with designers and actors all over the country. Some of her other projects include a short film with fellow students titled Quoren’Twenties and a short podcast series.
