Travis Wright

Sound Design
Class of 2021

My Bio:

Travis Wright is a freelance sound designer/composer and an expected 2021 MFA Sound Design graduate from the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama.

After first discovering a passion for sound while working on a production of Nicholas Nickelby at PlayMaker’s Rep. in 2009, they have experimented with ways in which sound design can be accessible to all. While freelancing as a New York City based sound designer/engineer, they explored the connections between live sound design and audience/actor participation on productions with Prospect Theatre Company, Cherry Lane Theatre, The New Ohio, and HERE Arts Center. Over the last few years have refocused their practice to explore experimental music composition methods and developing live sound technology. Currently, their work focuses on building tools that capture the performer’s motion to manipulate music. By bridging the gap between sound and the performer, they hope to engage more people in the process of building and performing live sonic art.
