Bio:
“If Alex isn’t on stage in a couple of years, I’ll eat my hat”, is what her 1st-grade teacher wrote in her yearbook. Born and raised in an English countryside village, you could always find Alex in a beautiful imaginary world, choosing to surround herself with joy, creativity, and music all the time. She discovered that the best way to do this was through the magic of performance. From her first show as a mouse when she was four, dancing through the aisles of her church with a tambourine, and reenacting High School Musical with her friends, there was never any doubt that this was what she was born to do. Her life completely changed at thirteen when she moved to Orlando, Florida, but her love never wavered. Instead, this opportunity spurred her to cram as much performing as she could into her life.
Alex loves to explore and reinvent what it means to be an ingénue – to her, there is so much strength in being kind and hopeful – and wants to bring passion and depth to roles that are typically perceived as “weak” or “surface level.” She focused on this challenge during her training at Carnegie Mellon, playing theatrically iconic roles such as the youthful yet persistent Anne in A Little Night Music and Nora in a new adaptation of A Doll’s House, whilst finding vulnerability in roles known to be tough and impenetrable, like Medea and Kate from The Taming of the Shrew. She was also able to advance her love of choreography, through original pieces presented in Dance/Light Productions and the sold-out Scotch N’ Soda Carnival Production of Rent. She has been blessed to explore her own identity as a queer woman and to work on stories with intentions of powerful storytelling and human connection.
Alex’s other fulfillments in life include singing in Jazz cabarets, her vintage fashion collection, drawing her loved ones and most importantly, daydreaming.
