Bio:

Christiane Swenson writes plays about gay people, neurosis, fandoms, toxic friendships, the Internet, the collective unconscious, blood, loneliness, and heartbreak. They received their BA in drama and creative writing from Bennington College in 2020. They are a frequent participant in The 24 Hour Plays, where they’ve written pieces for performers like Heath Saunders and Melia Kreiling. Their debut play Chebutykin was presented in August of 2021, self-produced by Normal House, a drama and criticism incubator co-founded by fellow Bennington alums Rob Ascher, Lou Barcott, and Delaney Circe. ART GETS WHAT IT WANTS, a dramedy about a failed collaboration between two friends, was part of the First Kiss Theatre Summer Residency and was presented at Brick Aux in October 2023, directed by Delaney Circe. Their next play is a trans retelling – sort of – of Faust, set in San Francisco.
