Erik Cereghino

Sound Designer
Class of 2023
(he/him)

Bio:

Erik is an MFA Sound Design candidate in the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama Class of 2023.

Born in Los Angeles, Erik had the good fortune of attending an elementary school that produced three musicals a year. His introduction to sound for live theater came at age nine. Although Erik didn’t intend to pursue sound design for theater as a profession, he continued doing sound for live theater through high school and while earning his Bachelor’s degree in English.

In 2017, Erik returned his focus to sound designing for live theater as he assisted Becca Kessin and Cricket Myers in Los Angeles. In 2018, Erik moved to New York City where he assisted in production audio and worked as a stage hand for off Broadway shows. A year into working for Five Ohm Productions and the Park Avenue Armory, Erik realized that his best approach to deepening his knowledge in sound design would be to return to school.

With a focus on immersive sound and system design, Erik strives to create visceral experiences through theater and independent sound installations.
