Jem Tepe

Costume Designer
Class of 2024
(he/him)

Bio:

Jem Tepe is a Pittsburgh and New York-based costume designer and maker. Some of his skills include painting, drawing, sewing, draping, pattern drafting, and millinery. He has experience designing both contemporary productions such as Constellations and Charity Case, and period productions like his most recent project, Macbeth. He has a dramaturgical approach to all of his projects, and knows personally how important clothing is in building character.

Jem has 7+ years of fine arts training from The Long Island Academy of Fine Arts and Rhode Island School of Design alongside his degree at Carnegie Mellon. As a queer man, he is passionate about working with other queer artists and putting queer bodies onstage. He has assisted in building a gown for Rupaul’s Drag Race, and would love to continue to work with drag artists in the future. In addition to sewing, Jem knits and crochets in his free time, and hopes to incorporate knitwear into costumes he makes in the future.
