Jillian Warner

Costume Designer
Class of 2023
(she/her)

Bio:

Jillian has been honing her sewing skills since middle school and began sewing her own Halloween costumes at that time. She joined the Beacon Players theater club in her freshman year at Beacon High School and designed and constructed costumes for each of the nine shows produced during her four years there. One of the most significant projects Jillian completed for Beacon Players was designing and constructing a transformation dress for their production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Beginning the summer of her sophomore year of high school, Jillian was given the amazing opportunity to work under Costume Designer Charlotte Palmer-Lane at Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. Jillian worked as a stitcher, and later Assistant Costume Designer for the Tempest, for four seasons at HVSF, including the challenging summer 2021 season with its roll-out of theater under complex COVID testing and safety constraints.

Jillian is currently a senior Costume Design student at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama. During the winter of 2021, Jillian designed and constructed a fanciful hat, along with other local artists, college faculty, and costume students for a filmed production of Far Away by Caryl Churchill at Quantum Theatre and designed by Susan Tsu. She was the Costume Designer for CMU’s spring 2022 staging of Athena by Gracie Gardner and the fall 2022 opera Considering Matthew Shepard. She looks forward to her next assignment as a draper for the upcoming CMU production of Godspell.

Jillian worked as a stitcher for Maine State Theater during the summer of 2022 and is currently working as a stitcher at Point Park University’s costume department. Jillian will also be designing the costumes for a production of Chicago at Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh.

Jillian can’t wait to get out into the world and help tell thought provoking and important stories through clothing. She is very excited to creatively collaborate with other designers, directors, and actors!

Jillian loves thrifting, wearing vintage clothing, eating chocolate, and the color purple!
