Bio:

Meena (Kang) Romsaas (they/she) is an artist, designer, and activist navigating many passions and realities.

Born in Daejeon, South Korea, Meena grew up in Minneapolis, MN, where she studied Japanese language, and spent time in Ibaraki, Osaka. She is currently based in Pittsburgh, PA finishing their senior year in the BFA Costume Design program at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama. They have enjoyed taking further courses in costume production and crafts, technology arts, and violin performance. In 2022, Meena took their studies to the National University of Singapore, to study East Asian art, film, theatre practicies, and theatre history.

Their passions include travel, art, and music, as well as being heavily involved in the social justice scene in both Minneapolis and Pittsburgh following the George Floyd murder in their South Minneapolis neighborhood, and the surge of Asian hate following the COVID-19 pandemic. They dream to intersect their art and activism, using their art as a catalyst for social change and uplifting BIPOC artists and voices. As a young, queer, Asian adoptee, Meena possesses a unique perspective on life she hopes to share through her creative content and the stories she tells.
