Olivia de Waart

Actor/Singer
Class of 2023
(she/her)

Bio:

Olivia de Waart was born in the Netherlands where she spent her early childhood before moving to Hong Kong, Belgium, and eventually settling in Madison, Wisconsin. Her father is a conductor and her mother is a singer, so Olivia has been surrounded by music her whole life.

She grew up studying piano and cello and singing constantly. A very emotive child, Olivia’s love of both music and the dramatic led her to musical theater and then eventually to Carnegie Mellon University, where she has spent the last four years studying musical theater/ acting.

During her time at CMU, Olivia has taken classes in acting, text work, movement, voice, dance, clowning (on zoom – a truly wonderful time), auditioning and more. She has performed in Hamlet, Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, Adult Things and the Something Beautiful Stephen Flaherty Cabaret, where she accompanied herself on cello. Olivia spent the fall of 2022 in Sydney, Australia studying at the National Institute of Dramatic Art. While there, she also spent a lot of time among Australian wildlife, went on many adventures, tried vegemite and hated it, and met people who are very dear to her heart.

Olivia’s other interests include reading, animals, sustainability, learning languages, Taylor Swift (she is in the top 0.05% of listeners in the US and can name all her songs in order… seriously, quiz her), spending time with loved ones, crafting, and being in nature. Her ultimate dream is to live in a cottage in the woods with a sanctuary farm and a huge library with one of those sliding ladders, while making art that helps people connect to themselves, others, and nature. She would like to thank her family for all that they do and all that they are.
