Rosie Villano

Scenic Design
Class of 2021

My Bio:

Rosie Villano (she/they) is a scenic designer graduating from Carnegie Mellon with a BFA in Drama and a minor in History. During her time at CMU, she designed virtual productions of Beatrice et Benedict, directed by Candace Evans, and a day, directed by Anne DeMelo. She collaborated with an ensemble of designers and actors that devised Scholar and Painter, directed by Rachel Pospisil. She also designed for short films, Well Managed, directed by Brenna Power, and F*ck Birthdays, directed by Victoria Bartolotta.

Rosie’s artistic practice includes writing, installation, painting, and photography. Her fascination with the intersection of past and present informs her ideas. Whether writing about Pittsburgh neighborhoods, photographing her family during COVID, or capturing deserted gas stations in roadside America, Rosie’s work explores people, light, and structures caught in liminal spaces.
