Bio:

Rowan Acadia Dunlop is a proud Cajun-Québécoise-Scot from the back pastures of Vermont, studying Dramaturgy at CMU. As a researcher, script writer, dramaturg, and visual artist, Rowan’s work revolves around the rural experience, gender, the internet, and the study of the past for the sake of the future.

Since the outbreak of war in Ukraine, Rowan has worked to financially and socially support the movement of her extended family from Odessa to Boston, MA. Rowan also works with Hello Neighbor, a refugee and immigrant support center in Pittsburgh, PA.

Rowan writes war dramas and good old fashioned love stories, and has worked with the Department of Defense/Homeland Security as a scriptwriter for President’s Cup Cybersecurity Competition, with the U.S. Army War College, researching/devising WWII case study exercises, and with StoryWarrior Media Capital, producing children’s animation.

In summer 2023, Rowan was one of a handful of sponsored scholars funded by Classrooms Without Borders to complete a WWII focused socio-political study of the nation of Poland, where she was able to learn and research in Warsaw, Kraków, Lublin, and Starachowice.

Rowan’s plays have been developed with The New South Young Playwrights Festival, Vermont Young Writers Project, Zoomfest: A Theatrical Podcast, and The Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry

Rowan has lived at WindTree, a sustainable permaculture community in the Santa Cruz mountains, and has also worked in invasive species education at Lake Iroquois, Vermont.

Rowan also enjoys working with goats.
