Drama Desk Award winner Joshua Harmon’s (MFA’10) new play, Prayer For The French Republic, will receive its world premiere as part of Manhattan Theatre Club’s 2021-22 season. MTC intends to produce the play Off-Broadway at City Center Stage in Winter 2022.

Set in 1944, the play introduces a Jewish couple awaiting news of their missing family.  More than 70 years later, the couple’s great grandchildren find themselves asking the same question: “Are we safe?”  Following five generations of a French Jewish family, Prayer For The French Republic is a sweeping look at history, home, and the effects of an ancient hatred.

Harmon is known for his previous works Admissions (Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award), Bad Jews, and Significant Other.
