Rachel Gita Karp (CFA ’19) and Lyam B. Gabel (CFA ’21) were recently named recipients of The Drama League’s 2021 residency directing programs.

The Drama League’s directing programs provide residents with the opportunity to develop and hone their directing skills, often partnering with theaters across the country.

Karp is the recipient of the Beatrice Terry Residency. This residency is designed exclusively for women-identified artists who both write and direct their own work. It’s named for the acclaimed director-writer Beatrice Terry, whose career on and off-Broadway epitomized the duality at the core of this residency.

Gabel is the recipient of the Next Stage Residency. This residency engages stage directors as full partners in the creative process of theatre-making and provides developmental resources to advance their developmental work on a play, musical, or theatrical project intended for the stage.
